Since 1996, Tenth Church has grown from a community of 175 people to more than 2,000, making it one of the largest and most diverse city-centre churches in Canada. Led by Senior Pastor, Ken Shigematsu, Tenth Church has emerged as a place where people who are curious about God, interested in exploring a spiritual journey, can come and experience connection and community regardless of their background. Tenth Church has been described by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) as a “a resting place for people from all walks of life.” Tenth Church is a Vancouver-based church with five different sites in Mount Pleasant, East Vancouver, Kitsilano and UBC Point Grey.

We are looking for a mature follower of Christ who is skilled in leadership, management, and strategic execution of our Mission. YOUR ROLE:

The Executive Pastor/Director reports to the Senior Pastor alongside the Pastor of Multi-site and collaborates with the executive committee, Leadership Team, and liaisons with the Board.

The Executive Pastor/Director oversees a number of positions including the Director of Operations, Director of Missional Engagement, People and Culture Manager, Creative Pastor, Family Ministries, Pastor of Spiritual Formation, Donor Relations, Bookkeeping and Finance.

Board Liaison:
  • Provide reports in the areas of the strategic plan implementation, financial updates, operations, key metrics
  • Attend monthly board meetings to provide regular updates
  • Serve as a liaison between staff and various ministries to the Board
  • Work closely with the Finance and Audit Committee
 
Strategic Planning & Leadership:
  • Strategic planning and implementation in close coordination with Senior Pastor and Pastor of Multi-site
  • Implement the church’s vision, strategic priorities, and ministry objectives in conjunction with the Senior Pastor and Pastor of Multi-site
  • Assist the staff in developing new ministries, as prayerfully led by the Holy Spirit
  • Ensure staffing, facilities, and programs are appropriately aligned to meet our strategic ministry goals
  • Work with Executive Committee and Leadership Team identify best practices that could be adopted by Tenth 
  • Oversees leadership development pathways for staff to draw out gifts and inspire Christ-centered leaders
 
Ministry and Operations Chief of Staff:
  • Inspire the staff and congregation to embrace the vision as one body through the multi-site chaordic model
  • Work with Pastor of Multi-site to plan Leadership Team meetings
  • Oversee and provide mentorship to ministry leaders and operational staff 
  • Serve as a role model for spiritual practices, “Table Manners”, self-care, ongoing leadership development, and growth
  • Serve as Tenth’s intentional agent of unity across all staff, ministries, and functions
  • Champion the development of systems and infrastructure by all ministry and support areas to support healthy, long-term growth of the church
  • Collaborate with Pastor of Multi-site and People and Culture team to coordinate and lead weekly staff meetings and other activities designed to clarify and execute on the goals, objectives, and ministries of the church
 
Business Operations:
  • Responsible for ensuring Tenth’s business operations run smoothly and align with Tenth’s strategic ministry objectives through oversight and collaboration with the Operations departments: Finance, People & Culture, Communications, Facilities & IT
  
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Proven track record of effective leadership, judgment, and depth of character
  • Experience in developing emerging leaders, strategic planning, and implementation
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem solving
  • Able to describe the key aspects of strong communication skills through multiple channels
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, and support staff
  • Can articulate approaches to prioritize and identify the essential
  • Can describe and implement systems thinking and design
  • Can describe key elements of and has experience with conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
  • A deep and maturing relationship with Jesus Christ

This is a full-time position.

Salary is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000 per annum based on 40 hours per week.
