We’re looking for the next person ready to make an impact on the next generation!

Join our team as our part-time Youth Director of a community where people of all different backgrounds can discover Christ, experience spiritual transformation, and seek justice for all.

The East Van Youth Director reports to the East Van Site Pastor with a dotted line of reporting to the Pastor of Youth Ministry (Central Support). 
 
Tenth Church is a vibrant multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and multi-site church located in the heart of Vancouver.
 

Ways You Will Contribute:   
1.   Leads youth programming on Sunday mornings and Friday Evenings:
  • Helps create a welcoming experience for students by setting up youth space. 
  • Develops and leads site-customized Sunday and any mid-week content. 
  • Develops and supports a team of youth leaders who can share in the ministry together and identify opportunities for that team to grow spiritually on Fridays and Sundays.
  • Navigates transitions well (students entering and leaving the youth ministry).
  • Connects with parents of youth on Sunday and Friday events.
  • Provides support and leadership to central youth programming (Friday nights). 
 
2.   Connects relationally with youth, parents, and youth leaders outside of the Sunday service:
  • Connects one-on-one or in groups - to have fun, talk, share life experiences, provide mentorship, celebrate significant moments, and just hang out together. 
  • Develops and supports a team of youth leaders who can share in the ministry together and identify opportunities for that team to grow spiritually midweek.
  • Connects with parents of youth through occasional mid-week check-ins. 
  • Directs high-crisis pastoral issues with site youth to Pastor of Youth Ministry and Site Pastor to support youth as required. 
 
3.   Communicates regularly with the East Van Site pastor, team, and central support: 
  • Connects to Site Pastor about needs for curriculum, parent support resources, or suggested activities.
  • Participates in East Van Team and larger Tenth staff meetings as much as possible.
 
 
What You Bring:  
  • Relevant experience in youth ministry leadership, disciplining, and mentoring students.
  • Strong coaching skills are an asset.  
  • Familiar with or open to multiple streams of spiritual development (e.g. Lectio Divina and contemplative prayer).  
  • Has a heart to work with students in Grades 6-12 of varied socioeconomic, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds.
  • Relational and outgoing, with a passion for connecting with people. 
  • Good communication skills; verbal and written. 
  • The ability to have “soul talks” with people--- going below the surface and engaging in meaningful conversation. 
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office), Planning Centre Online knowledge an asset. 
  • Spiritual maturity and evidence of ongoing personal spiritual formation. 
  • Must be responsible and able to carry out duties with minimum supervision. 
  • Can “think outside of the box” and is not afraid to take calculated risks. 
  • Can articulate sound theology and philosophy of ministry. 
  • Possess the ability to engage in effective conflict resolution. 
  • Committed to being an active and engaged member of Tenth Church if hired. 

This a part-time position where you will work 10 hours per week.

Salary is commensurate with experience; the salary range is $8,710.00 - $10,920 per annum.
