You are an expert in audio engineering with advanced AVL (audio, video, lighting) knowledge and you bring exceptional technical, leadership, and administrative skills.

Tenth Church is seeking a Technical Director who will provide leadership to the Production Department at our Mount Pleasant location. You will oversee all aspects of production for Tenth Church Mount Pleasant services, including rehearsals, special events, Tenth Online, and in-person Sunday gatherings at Mount Pleasant. You will also be responsible for casting vision, training, and providing leadership to our staff and Mount Pleasant volunteer team. You will ensure the technical needs of Tenth Mount Pleasant are met by maintaining and upgrading AVL systems.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
 
  • Oversee production of Tenth Church Mount Pleasant services.
  • Oversee coordination of tech support for in-person gatherings at Mount Pleasant.
  • Oversee production of mid-week special events, like conferences, worship nights, and youth events.
  • Cast vision and provide leadership to production staff and Mount Pleasant volunteer teams.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for production staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure that the technical needs for Tenth Church are met by maintaining and upgrading Tenth’s AVL systems at Mount Pleasant.
  • Maintain clear documentation of systems and processes. 
  • Ensure proper troubleshooting of system malfunction and other technical issues. 
  • Deal with all matters related to production systems and processes and ensure the smooth technical execution of live gatherings.
  • Take a leadership role regarding production across Tenth sites, offering advice and support.
 

WHAT YOU BRING:

Audio Engineering:
  • BA in Recording Arts or a comparable degree an asset.
  • At least 2 years of live mixing experience, including in church contexts.
  • Experience with DiGiCo SD (FOH) and Allen&Heath SQ (IEM) series an asset. 
  • Strong grasp of digital signal flow and audio processing concepts.
  • Strong understanding of and experience configuring and operating Dante networks. 
  • Well-versed in recording and audio post-production tasks and comfortable with a variety of DAWs and plugins.
 
Video Production:
  • Comfortable working with a variety of production switchers and other broadcast equipment (including video routers, recording decks, streaming encoders, and more).
  • Experience with Blackmagic equipment an asset.
  • Strong grasp of broadcast signal flow, processing concepts and infrastructure. 
  • Strong grasp of digital imaging, especially concepts related to the physics and optics of video acquisition.
  • Good understanding of camera painting / color grading. 

Lighting:
  • Good understanding of basic lighting concepts. 
  • Comfortable with DMX, ArtNet and related protocols and programming lighting systems.
  • Experience with Lightkey is an asset.

Administration and Leadership:
  • Very strong administrative skills, organized, strategic, comfortable managing extensive logistics.
  • Able to devise and execute complex processes, able to track large numbers of details concurrently.
  • Experience working with budgets is an asset.

Computers, Software and Networks:
  •  Good working knowledge of Mac and Windows. 
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, confident in basic network troubleshooting.
  •  Experience with ProPresenter and Planning Center Online is an asset.
  •  Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve is an asset.
  •  Experience with Logic Pro X an asset.
  •  Articulate and written acumen and interpersonal proficiency.

This is a full-time position where you will work 40 hours per week.
 
Salary is commensurate with experience; the salary range is $60,000-$66,000 per annum.
