Do you want to join and help in the launch of a new church in the heart of Oakridge in Vancouver?
Have you been searching for an opportunity to creatively point people to Jesus, come alongside others towards transformation, and to seek justice by serving and loving the neighbourhood?
We are seeking an Associate Pastor for our new site in Oakridge to support the Site Pastor in shepherding, leading and encouraging deeper faith in Christ for all at Tenth Oakridge.

You are a team-player, leading mission alongside others, eager to welcome, walk with and help new friends know Jesus. You carefully translate vision into strategy and action, very mindful of culture, seeking the flourishing of the Oakridge neighbourhood. You are a leader who can inspire and mobilize others in service, following the way of Jesus’ radical grace. You are deeply relational and willing to walk alongside others seeking spiritual change and tangible faith. You seek joy, meaning and love in Christ, encouraging in others to spiritual transformation.
You are curious and a learner. You are an active listener. You humbly point others to Jesus.
WAYS YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:
Neighborhood Engagement and Outreach:
- Lead and support teams that serve and love the neighbourhood, seeking justice for all.
- Immerse yourself and build relationships within the neighbourhood, engaging thoughtfully, listening attentively, and serving to help meet real needs.
- Lead Alpha 1-2 times per year, collaboratively with staff and volunteer leaders, training teams, supporting all aspects of running the course.
Formation: Life Groups, Classes, Events:
- Support Life Group Leaders providing training, resources and encouragement so all may experience deep spiritual transformation.
- Collaborate with Tenth staff to offer classes for people to learn, grow and deepen their life with Christ.
- Support and contribute to organizing and leading events (e.g. Retreat, Christmas Eve, neighbourhood and connections meals, etc...)
Sunday Services:
- Lead and support teams to foster a welcoming environment for all to discover Christ.
- Host services 2-3 times monthly, sharing vision, encouraging engagement.
- Connect meaningfully with people, offering a calm, caring pastoral presence.
Other:
- Attend all weekly Site staff meetings, and monthly Tenth staff meetings.
- Serve as a substitute, as required, for the Site Pastor.
- Licensed, or be willing to be licensed, to work within the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Bachelor’s degree, M.Div. preferred, with experience in pastoral ministry.
- Proven experience in effective leadership, emerging leader development, spiritual formation, outreach, and discipleship.
- Passion and skill for working in diverse cultural and social settings.
- Loves being with people, listens carefully to each person.
- Ability to inspire and mobilize involvement in service and leadership.
- The ability to engage in effective conflict resolution.
- Joy in building relationships with people of diverse beliefs and backgrounds, including those outside the Christian faith.
- Connects well and has relationships with people who do not yet know Christ or have little to no experience with the church.
- Relational heart and a love for being with people.
- Personable, outgoing, and passionate about forming meaningful connections.
- Spiritual maturity, with a demonstrated commitment to spiritual growth.
- Strong administrative and organization skills.
This is a full-time position where you will work 32 hours per week.
Salary is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000 per annum based on 32 hours per week.
