Tenth Church is seeking a Global Event and Communications Assistant to join our team this summer! Do you want to play a vital part in supporting the ministry and engaging the wider community by contributing to Tenth’s Global and Local Initiatives through creative writing, event planning and support, and administrative tasks?
You are a strong communicator and collaborator who takes ownership of projects and delivers results with minimal supervision. If you thrive in teamwork, excel at organization, enjoy building relationships and creating engaging content, and have a desire to contribute to Tenth’s work of justice and mercy this summer, we would love to hear from you!
*This position is subject to government funding through the 2025 Youth Canada Summer Jobs program. The successful candidate must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the Canada Summer Jobs grant (see below).
Ways You Will Contribute:
- Assist in organizing Tenth community events with volunteers and newcomers in the city, collaborating with Tenth sites, youth, families, and refugee support programs
- Write blog stories for local and global partners to be featured in newsletters and social media
- Collaborate in the creation and hosting of a market event that blends newcomers/refugees, Tenth communities and programs
- Assist the Pastor of International Missions and the Global Team with administrative tasks, including organizing inventory of JustBags artisan products, taking meeting minutes, and recordkeeping
- Facilitate small groups of newcomer youth, children and families to create art projects
Note: JustBags is an entrepreneurial learning community for Tenth volunteers of all ages and families new to Canada, where participants share their skills, experiences and vision to create projects that can be sold at local markets.
What You Bring:
- Previous experience working with children and/or youth, preferably in a leadership capacity
- Background or interest in fields such as Communications, Marketing, Counselling, Recreation, Psychology, Social Work, Heath, Management, or Education
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills; proficiency in MS 365 and familiarity with Planning Center Online an asset
- Able to work effectively with a team and independently
- Demonstrated ability to manage resources, goals and timelines
- Administrative ability and attention to detail
- Flexible schedule and attitude
- Proactive and takes initiative
- Possess an authentic faith and walk with Jesus
- Support of Tenth Church’s mission, vision, and values
- Read, understand, and comply with Tenth Church Staff Handbook
CSJ Eligibility Criteria:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
This is a summer contract hourly position where you will work 30 hours per week for 9 weeks. The contract will commence in late June and end in August 2025.
Salary: $20.00 per hour
