2024 Summer Day Camp Leader

You are an enthusiastic, outgoing, and responsible collaborator who is relational and experienced in a leadership role connecting with children (particularly between two to Grade 5). You work well with youth volunteers, adult volunteers, and parents, and can connect with people from varied social, economic, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds. If this describes you, we invite you to join our Tenth Summer Camp team!
Tenth Church is looking for four (4*) skilled Summer Day Camp Leaders to plan and lead youth volunteers, adult volunteers, and campers for our busy two weeks of Day Camps this summer. These day camps include a preschool and school-age vacation bible school.
*4 Summer Day Camp Leaders (Two of the four positions are subject to funding by the Canada Summer Jobs 2024 program)
Ways You Will Contribute:
- Assists the Camp Director in planning and preparation for Summer Camp, which may include purchasing resources, preparing materials, and decorating the space.
- Assists the Camp Director in the execution of Summer Day Camps, which includes setting up before and cleaning up after each day.
- Provides leadership to youth volunteers, adult volunteers, and campers.
- Ensures the safety and care of all children while at Tenth Church and on field trips.
- Leads lessons, games, crafts, and other activities for large and small groups of children.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
- Previous experience working with children (age 2 to grades 5), preferably in a leadership capacity. Ability to lead and sustain a staff and volunteer team.
- A basic understanding of Creation Care Theology and/or Environment Science is an asset.
- Demonstrate an ability to maintain harmonious relationships (including conflict resolution skills) with staff, youth and adult volunteers, campers, and families.
- Able to accept instructions and carry out duties efficiently and joyfully.
- Works well on teams, both as a leader and as a group member.
- Has a heart for working with children and families of varied social, economic, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds.
- Highly organized team player who has strong administrative skills and can work independently.
- Is a great communicator, both verbal and written.
- Possesses an authentic faith and walk with Jesus.
This is a summer contract hourly position where you will work 30 hours per week for four weeks. The contract will commence in late June 2024 and end at the end of July 2024.
Salary: $17.00 per hour
